The Client is headquartered in Richmond, VA and is primarily a provider of gas transportation and storage services.
TAI provided a detailed engineering package and bid and construction services for the Client’s Compressor Station Project for an additional natural gas compressor. The existing compressor at the station was required to remain in service (limited outages) due to regulatory requirements. This requirement necessitated the Phased Construction details to provide temporary power. The compressor area of the plant is a Class I, Division 2 (Flammable Gas). All temporary and permanent power equipment and wiring methods had to conform to the requirements of the National Electrical Code for use of explosion proof enclosures and fittings.

TAI also provided a complete overhaul of the site electrical power distribution system including service equipment replacement, new compressor building, new MCC building, and addition of a 400 kW standby generator. A power system analysis was included.
Relevant Project Details:
TAI Electrical Engineering Division provided a detailed engineering package for bid and construction for the addition of a second natural gas compressor and a new electrical service with emergency back-up power for this Compressor Station. TAI also provided a Short Circuit and Coordination and Arc Flash Study for the new electrical service and equipment. TAI provided the specification of a new electrical building, new Motor Control Center and Automatic Transfer Switch as well as detailed electrical drawings – and in accordance to the requirements of the National Electrical Code for use of explosion proof enclosures and fittings.
