Project Details

TAI was tasked with the phased expansion of a 20,000 SF existing office space into a GMP manufacturing facility in Columbia, MD. The work included Grade C & D clean rooms, clean storage, Research & Development labs, pilot plant, QC and Engineering labs, office spaces, locker and rest rooms, mechanical and electrical equipment spaces, as well as gowning, disinfection and product storage areas.

The TAI Project Manager provided coordination of the expansion into an area with existing clean room spaces and offices. Mechanical, process, electrical, and structural engineering services were performed to complete the permit, bid and construction packages as well as construction administration for the expansion.

New infrastructure systems included custom air handling units, air-cooled chillers, hot water boilers, a clean steam generator, a heat sanitized USP purified water system, laboratory gases, terminal HEPA filtration, safety showers, electrical system upgrade and an emergency generator.

Utility services for laboratory equipment included biosafety cabinets, fume hoods, low-temperature freezers, refrigerators, incubators, autoclaves, labware washers, ovens, and snorkel exhaust systems.
