TAI’s Client wanted to improve efficiency by increasing their food-handling capabilities in-house at their facility located in Stuarts Draft, VA. Formerly, the Client was transporting their mounds paste to their plant by truck. This project enabled the Client to make the mounds paste inside their facility and distribute it to the food tanks. TAI developed and implemented the PLC & HMI changes required to accomplish this new process based on the Functional Description, P&IDs, and electrical drawings provided by the Client.
TAI installed (2) pumps, a flow meter, automated valves, and associated piping. The installation also included the required electrical and controls for the new equipment and production requirements. TAI provided mechanical, process, structural, electrical, instrument and controls engineering services to complete the scope of work. TAI additionally provided construction management and commissioning and start-up support for the installation of the project.
TAI assigned a Senior Controls Programmer, responsible for the PLC and HMI programming, system testing, as well as commissioning and start-up. The Senior Controls Programmer handled all aspects of project management, project coordination, and resource management and coordinated closely with other project team members – from a technical standpoint – to ensure the project was completed smoothly and seamlessly.
