Project Details

The Client expanded into a new facility to accommodate projected growth in one of their core businesses.  The existing facility was comprised of a warm, dark shell with approximately 25,000 SF of floor area. The renovation of this space included BSL1 open research labs, closed core labs, support labs, manufacturing support spaces, a fermentation pilot plant, ISO Grade C & D clean rooms, BSL2 lab, chemical storage and dispensing, imaging suite, and administrative office suites.

TAI provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, process and fire protection engineering design services in support of the overall provision of project construction documents.  The existing chilled water, heating hot water, and high pressure steam systems were modified to properly support the facility requirements, while new HVAC equipment was added as the project requirements dictated.  Space pressurization control was provided for all laboratory spaces.

New infrastructure systems included exhaust fans, clean steam, clean steam for humidification, clean compressed air, laboratory vacuum, laboratory gases, liquid nitrogen, deionized water system, continuous effluent decontamination, effluent pH neutralization, safety showers, electrical system upgrade and emergency generator.

Utility services for laboratory equipment included biosafety cabinets, fume hoods, balance enclosures, low-temperature freezers, cryogenic freezers, cold boxes, incubators, centrifuges, GCs, LCs, colony picking robots, autoclaves, labware washers, dispensing exhaust systems, and snorkel exhaust systems.
