Project Details

The project entailed the design and construction of a plant-wide Dust Collection System with a new dust collector (DC), make-up air unit (MAU), condenser (CND), associated duct work and required power and control. TAI provided multiple engineering services to manage and construct the Dust Collector for this project. TAI provided 3rd Party Construction Management and Safety Management Services, and acted as integrators, bringing together multiple pieces of equipment and technologies to function as a system within the confines of the client’s existing facility and operations. TAI also provided mechanical, structural, concrete, electrical, utility and fire line piping designs.

PRE-CONSTRUCTION SERVICES

The first steps for this project were Pre-Construction Services that spanned three weeks prior to construction. Services included contractor pricing verification, bidding support, scheduling, managing vendors for the supply of equipment and materials, and scope clarifications. Services included assistance with AHJ permit application to effect minimal project delays due to permit related issues. Additionally, TAI managed the submittal review and approval, RFI, and package documentation and coordinated Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) for the equipment that required approval before being shipped.

3RD PARTY CONSTRUCTION, PROJECT AND SAFETY MANAGEMENT, AND FIELD ENGINEERING

After the Pre-Construction Services were completed, TAI moved into a 28-week construction timeline. The first four weeks of the project included the demolition and removal of the old Dust Collector equipment and ductwork. Next came the construction phase. TAI scheduled, managed, and coordinated Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, training, and start-up to designated Client employees. TAI also provided red-line mark-ups of construction drawings at the completion of construction for development of as-builts and developed all Issue-for-Record drawings including equipment and services.

SITE SAFETY MANAGEMENT

During the construction phase, TAI’s Safety Team provided a full-time safety manager to monitor safety awareness, safety execution and safety performance related to contractor and Client personnel. The TAI safety manager reviewed construction work plans daily and toured the site multiple times a day to ensure all safety precautions were taken to maintain a safe work environment.

TURNOVER PACKAGE PROVISION

At the completion of the project, TAI provided an Operating and Maintenance Turn-over Package that included equipment and instrument documentation/manuals, recommended spare parts lists, preventative maintenance schedules for all equipment, list of NFPA requirements with respect to maintenance, cleaning, and inspection along with other pertinent information.
