Project Details

The Pennsylvania brewery has increased it’s brewing capacity by approximately 1.4 million barrels of beer annually with the potential for expansion to over two million barrels with modest incremental investment. The Pennsylvania brewery required the renovation to brew the Sam Adams family of craft beers. TAI’s scope of work for this project began at the Due Diligence phase to evaluate the total cost of the required renovation of the old facility and the operating and financial impact to the company. To accomplish this, TAI conducted a plant inspection, capacity assessment, mechanical integrity audits and a feasibility study as an independent review of the brewery operations from the perspective of a strategic buyer.

During the design phase, TAI’s responsibilities included defining the project, developing the phases of the project, preliminary design and cost estimating for authorization of expenditures and justification. TAI managed the detailed design, contractor bidding, evaluation and selection phase, implementation, start-up and project close-out. Throughout the detailed design, TAI provided valuable input to process improvements and estimated payback analysis of those improvements. Also included was a review of the ammonia refrigeration system, a facility energy audit to provide sustainable improvements as well as a facility code and safety audit.

TAI additionally provided construction management and administration support during the project. This included scheduling and overseeing all contractors, responding to requests for information, approving change orders, and assisting with start-up activities.
