TAI provided engineering, design and construction management services for the development of construction documents and follow on construction management services required for the Dextrose Storage Silos Building Project. The project includes the silo building foundation and structure, silo support foundations, silo equipment, blower or material transport equipment, vent and discharge, and piping system. TAI also provided engineering services and coordination with the civil engineer for site work, subcontractor for blower and materials handling equipment as recommended by the Client and the Client’s process group for utility tie-ins, etc.
The project included the construction of a 28’ x 32’ building with a 75’ high roof with deep foundations for the silo supports, vents and blow-out panels. The ground level is of made of concrete and all steel construction of tubular steel with IMP walls. Access levels above the ground floor are steel open grating construction. Access to the top of the silos was incorporated into the building design with a switch bask stair tower. Silos were 13’ Diameter by 55’ high with a storage capacity near 200,000 lb each. An HVAC system with A/C, ventilation and dehumidification capabilities, and process waste collection pit were incorporated into the building design. Separate parts wash and employee wash sinks with appropriate hot and cold supply, instantaneous heater, and process waste and vent lines were included.
