ABOUT: The Client’s location consists of approximately 90 acres at the tip of a peninsula in northeastern Anne Arundel County where Patapsco River and Rock Creek meet the Chesapeake Bay. The park’s recreational amenities include a 380-foot fishing pier, children’s playground, historic gun battery and barracks, walking trails, beaches and pond. The park was a sea coast defense built in the late 1880s to the early part of the 1900s. The fort was in use from 1890 until 1927.

PROJECT DETAILS:

The Client wanted to rehabilitate its original concession stand, built in 1932, as one of the park’s oldest and most deteriorated structures. The construction on the one-story building, measuring 30′ x 19′, needed to comply with the Maryland Historic Trust mitigation requirements.

TAI provided mechanical and electrical engineering and design services for the renovation of the park’s concession stand in Anne Arundel County. TAI provided analysis and construction documentation for the existing mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.

Mechanical Design:

  • Design for new plumbing for sink and bathroom
  • Design for a well tank and water connection to filtration system

  • Survey of existing conditions
  • Lighting calculations and design, including coordination of light fixtures
  • Power design, including power to all mechanical equipment
  • Electrical power to effluent pump and well pump
  • Design for new meter and coordination with BGE for electrical service to building
