Project Details

TAI performed and documented the inspections of two pressure vessels and associated ammonia piping systems located at the Client’s facility in Wilmington, DE. The inspections were performed in accordance with the API Codes to meet the requirements of OSHA’s Process Safety Management standard (29 CFR 1910.119). Equipment inspected were as follows:

Pressure Vessel—Anhydrous Ammonia Service
  • Ammonia Storage Tank
  • Ammonia Vaporizer
  • Ammonia Piping included the piping supplied by the Client and labeled as Ammonia Storage Tank Piping & Ammonia Skid Piping.

TAI provided two inspectors for the field work portion of the project. The inspectors were certified to API 510/570/653 & in accordance with TAI’s written NDE program as ASNT-TC-1A Level II—Ultrasonic Thickness Technicians.

TAI performed a complete external visual inspection of the equipment & piping as well as performed a complete ultrasonic thickness survey of the equipment’s heads, shell, nozzles, etc. (where accessible) and the piping had critical thickness data gathered to meet API 570 requirements based on the service provided.

TAI also calculated the minimum required component thickness following the applicable API standards, provided the remaining life estimates & inspection intervals for the equipment & piping. Lastly, TAI provided corrective actions as required to address indications found during the inspection.
