Flowing Springs

Client: Verizon Wireless

Location: Charles Town, WV

Dollar Value of Project: $1,000,000 (+/-)

The client utilized an abandoned 50-foot tall farm silo located on a golf course and converted it into a wireless telecommunications tower/facility.  The existing zoning regulations allowed for a 30-foot extension addition on the top of the existing silo.  The extension was constructed from RF-signal “friendly” materials so that the wireless antennas and supports could be installed inside the silo to conceal them from public view.  All other accessory telecommunications equipment was installed in a fenced compound adjacent to the silo.

TAI acted as the prime engineer creating all zoning and construction documents for county and contractor use.  TAI hired a specialty firm to design the concealment extension on top of the silo.  TAI also utilized the expertise of a stave silo engineering firm to analyze and create remediation drawings for the existing silo.  TAI provided structural reinforcement design and drawings for the existing silo foundation, design of all wireless equipment attachments, supports and appurtenances, and review and coordination of all sub-consultant designs and drawings.
