Charles Town South
Client: Verizon Wireless
Location: Charles Town, WV
Dollar Value of Project: $500,000 (+/-)
A new wireless telecommunications facility was installed on an existing elevated water tank and within its compound. A new 3-legged steel pipe frame was mounted on top of the active tank to support the new wireless antennas. All other accessory telecommunications equipment was installed inside a new shelter within the tank compound at ground level. The coaxial cables connecting the antennas to the equipment cabinets were attached to the tank legs.
TAI provided civil and structural engineering design and documents for zoning submittals to the county and issued-for-construction submittals to the contractor. TAI designed foundations for the ground shelter, steel framing supports and attachment details for the antennas and coaxial cables. In addition, TAI utilized the services of other consultants to create electrical engineering design documents and new required utility and access easements.
- TAI worked with the site acquisition specialist to supply all necessary legal exhibits.
- TAI engaged an affiliate surveyor to provide an as-built survey and county zoning experience.
- TAI worked along with another engineering firm to have them provide the electrical design.
- TAI analyzed the pre-manufactured antenna support and tank shell for the wind and dead loads and to insure the construction conformed to all building and design codes.
