Job Title: Electrical Engineer
Description of Responsibilities/Duties:
The following duties are typical of the position, but are not all encompassing:
Engineering and Design:
• Perform engineering studies, analysis of systems, preliminary and detailed engineering designs.
• Possess strong knowledge of applicable codes (such as: NEC, Life Safety, etc.) and standards (such as: IEEE, etc.). Work with code officials and other design professionals when an interpretation or exception to codes is required.
• Conduct field investigations.
• Prepare or review construction cost estimates based on experience and scope of project.
• Promote use of and participate in development of company design and production standards.
• Attend seminars on relevant subjects to stay in touch with the latest technology.
• Participate in technical and professional societies.
Project Management:
• Work closely with TAI’s Group Managers to ensure projects are staffed with personnel having appropriate qualifications to perform assigned tasks.
• Responsible for compliance with electrical project scope, budget and schedule. Monitor and report status to TAI’s Group Managers and project managers on an ongoing basis.
• Participate in coordination of design work with other disciplines.
Qualifications:
• Bachelors of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 7-10 years of design experience involving the following:
- Medium and Low voltage power distribution
- Lighting Design and Calculations
- Commercial & Government Building Power distribution
- Generator & Uninterruptable power supply
- Fire Alarms
- Grounding/Lightning protection
- NEC Code Calculations
- Short Circuit and Voltage drawings/calculations
• Professional Engineering license is a requirement.
• LEED AP+ or Green Associate is preferred.
• Security clearance is preferred.
• NCEES record is preferred.
• Good verbal and written communication skills, good customer relation skills, a positive work attitude, and willingness to learn new skills.
• Self-motivated and able to manage multiple projects of varying complexity.
• Must be proficient in the use of a computer
• Experience with the following software is required:
-Microsoft Office applications
- Autocad
• Experience with the following software is preferred:
- Microsoft Project
- Autodesk Revit
- Microstation
- SKM Power tools or ETAP Power System Analysis Software
- Visual/AGI 32
