TAI engineered the complete Instrumentation and Control upgrade
of the facility's 100M-btu/hr hot oil heater, as well as the
complete implementation of a Safety Instrumented System for
the process hot oil heater. The services TAI provided included
the following:
- Specified new instrumentation, approximately
120 field devices, for the hot oil heater, including DCS
related and SIS related instruments. SIS instrument specification
complied with the designated SIL level of the SIS system.
- Developed electrical and instrumentation
drawings for bid and construction. Developed bid documents
including E & I specification and panel shop scope of
work.
- Managed all facets of project implementation
including equipment purchase, bid meetings and award review,
construction supervision (both electrical and instrumentation
contrators), I/O checkout, system checkout, and start up.
- Provided complete PLC programming
and operator interface development for the SIS system (Modicon
Quantum processor was employed utilizing Concept software).
Provided and integrated SIS system with existing DCS.

- Developed loop drawings for all SIS and DCS loops, as
well as provided logic diagrams detailing the complete SIS
system controls.
- Developed training manual and taught training class for
plant operating, maintenance, and engineering personnel.
